See what other Unit Study users are saying about our curriculum, we have taken the link off of this site as there were horrible spam messages being posted. However, another user started a new discussion group, logon to Yahoo groups, and search for Christian Cottage Unit Studies. Thanks!

Duty, Honor, Family
Consider the words of Douglas MacArthur, a great modern leader, and see how they echo the themes of the greatest leader in history. Jesus Christ served us at Calvary, and now calls us to service with the promise that He will never leave nor forsake us.
Duty, Honor, Country - those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn...They teach you to be proud and unbending in honest failure, but humble and gentle in success; not to substitute words for actions, not to seek the path of comfort, but to face the stress and spur of difficulty and challenge; to learn to stand up in the storm, but to have compassion on those who fail; to master yourself before you seek to master others; to have a heart that is clean, a goal that is high; to learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; to reach into the future, yet never neglect the past; to be serious, yet never to take yourself too seriously; to be modest so that you will remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
When General Douglas MacArthur spoke these words to the cadets of the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) on May 12, 1962, he was addressing young men who were soon to be commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the United States Army, with all of the possibilities, promises, and problems that military service offered. In 1962, a distinct possibility included a tour as an observer in a small, back-water country named Viet Nam. A few years later, these same young men would go to Southeast Asia as combat-unit commanders, and many would be numbered with the 50,000 casualties of the Viet Nam War...those who paid the ultimate price.
The relevance to us as fathers comes from an obvious parallel - simply substitute Family for Country. We are already in an all-out war with the world system for the hearts, minds, and spirits of our children, and our successes or failures will affect future generations (see Deut 5:9 and 7:9).
I have good news - the Lord is more than willing to use us (just as we are) when we make ourselves available to Him in all humility. On top of that, He is both willing and able to help us be (and continue to become) the leader our families need, want and deserve. He is our Commander - the Lord of Hosts - as well as our soon-coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Rev 19:15-16), and the one, true, ultimate sacrifice. So;
Like those young men 40 years ago, we face possibilities and problems, but we can and must whole-heartedly accept the commissions given us by our Eternal Commander-In-Chief. The battle is on, the enemy is ruthless, and the stakes have never been higher. But in Him and through Him, we will be more than conquerors.
