Ten Reasons I Homeschool Middle School

by Teri Spray

My kids want to go to public school with their friends. Why should I keep them home for middle school?

1) I don't have to act "Too Cool for School" like lots of other kids and try to act tough toward teachers. I don't have to worry about what I wear to school.

2) My school work is what I need and is fitted to the way I learn.

3) I usually get finished in half of the time of a school day with NO homework!

4) I have more time to spend with my friends and working on my interests because I'm not stuck with a stack of homework.

5) I get to study the gospel truth. I don't have to worry about being fed humanism and evolution by my teachers and textbooks.

6) I don't fight as much with my family like other kids my age.

7) I get to read or listen to real books about real people from beginning to end instead of short excerpts and selections in a textbook.

8) I can check out lots of information about lots of things from the library or on the internet. I don't get just one viewpoint from only one text when I learn.

9) We get to do school while taking trips, and visiting lots of libraries and museums. I can cook in school, do art every day if I like and even count my afterschool sports as physical education.

10) If God directs us into prayer and Bible study for most of the day, we still count it as school. If God calls us into service to others for a day, we can usually count it for school too.

Homeschool middle school is cool!
