Welcome to Christian Cottage Schools and Home School Services! We have been serving, supporting and empowering home educating parents for more than 20 years. With our experience and a concise, sequential learning program, your family gets the encouragement and peace of mind that will yield a successful school year. If you need help in learning how to help your child, then we are here for you!
Our goal at Christian Cottage is to help you be successful in your teaching, and learning endeavors. When you are successful, so are we. We begin by measuring your child one-on-one with a nationally-normed achievement test (the Woodcock Johnson (Revised)). By watching, and listening to your child's answers in 13 academic areas, we can understand most of your child's learning issues and levels. If there are processing skills concerns, we add a fun, simple screening for information on memory and reasoning skills as well as visual and auditory processing. You provide the rest of the story by filling out our confidential profiles.
These assessments only take about two hours. Then together with you, we carefully create an educational program designed specifically to help your student learn easily and efficiently. Naturally, we specialize in helping children with unique learning needs. We work with learning disabilities, giftedness, and challenging students. We can even change processing skills through cognitive training! Our job at CCS is to search out and develop a learning program with materials and educational strategies custom-tailored to your family. We believe learning should strike a balance between concise, consecutive basic skills and rich, varied learning experiences. For example, we provide processing skill training and remediation through BrainWare as well as creative, hands-on learning opportunities through our Unit Studies which we have written and distribute nationally and internationally.
At Christian Cottage, we believe that God gave parents the job of training and educating children. Our mission is to partner with you, the parents, in this endeavor. We believe that you ulitmately know what is best for your chidren because God has placed you, the parent in authority. Because of this, no curriculum is chosen without first obtaining your input and approval.
